They aim to:
- Relieve the stress experienced by carers
- Care for people with physical, mental, sight or hearing difficulties who are supported by family carers
- Improve the quality of life for carers
- Develop effective care services which support carers and those with care needs; and
- Provide good-quality services which support carers
Crossroads offers support to carers by providing:
- Respite care at home
- Sitting services at night
- Flexible breaks; and
- A group for black and ethnic-minority carers
The respite service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Referrals are made through local authority care management teams, depending on carers assessed needs.
